Joshua Nelson Cover Letter & Resume:
Over my 25 years working in the gaming, simulation, web and broadcast industries I have gained experience with many of the development pipelines, and have applied these skills in emerging markets 'first-ever' situations, and adoption of bleeding edge technology.
I have worked with firms such as Lucas Arts, Storm Front Studios, Star Trek/Paramount Pictures, Rocket Science Games and others. Outside of the game industry I have worked for significant firms like Hewlett Packard, Northrup Grumman, Intel, and Integrated Device Technologies. My work has won industry recognized awards, I have written major magazines articles & product views, and I have lectured at major conferences and I have been directly sponsored by companies such as Autodesk and Stereo Graphics.
I have also worked as an independent contractor, managing projects large and small that included unusual and unique requirements far outside the normal scope of typical productions. I have created simulations that have been both visually and technically accurate, ranging from medical devices and procedures to real-world rocket technologies.
During my time as a technical artist I have had to thoroughly comprehend many types of system, technologies, principals and forces to bring realistic visuals to the screen, website, diagram or simulation. I have also worked extensively with software engineers to bring these experiences to interactive demonstrations, which have included dedicated hardware, stereoscopic displays, and multiple simultaneous viewers.
With all the varied experience, and having filled many of the positions involved in a wide variety of disciplines which I feel allow me great flexibility and a superior skillset since I am able to thoroughly understand the bigger picture in just about any VR, 3D visual or simulation project and development. I have the general skillsets and experience to be able to manage and maintain a team, and I am able to be hands-on at every level having personal experience with every position, which allows me to thoroughly understand what is involved with each step of planning, design, and production.
Over the years I have become skilled dealing with internal and external contractor relations and communications, tracking of these relationships, assets and varied skills, and organizing these into the bigger framework of the overall project. My unique set of skills qualifies me to be an efficient leader, while being able to work closely with management to achieve the target goals.
Truly,
Joshua Nelson.
